The Northern Lightning is Ryerson’s third Spaceport America Cup supersonic rocket. It is a sounding rocket designed for an apogee of 30000 feet.

Its design features an innovative, student researched, and developed out-of-autoclave resin transfer process which allowed for the manufacturing of high-quality supersonic fins with minimal cost, consumables, and labor

time.
